Limerick AC compete in round 2 of National Senior League

June 23, 2014 in Track & Field Results by Gwynne Ryan

Once again a depleted but highly spirited Limerick AC Team competed in Round 2 of National Senior League at a very warm and humid Athlone IT Track on Sunday 22 June 2014 .

Despite been severly depleted in personnel – the men of Limerick AC performed heroically throughout the day covering 16 events .

Led by Captain Roland Pika  ( 100m , Long Jump , High Jump , 4 X 100m & 4 x 400m relays )  and ably assisted by Jack Broderick ( 110m H , 400m H , 56lbs for distance,  4 X 100m & 4 x 400m relays ) , Kevin Coleman ( 400m, 800m , 4 X 100m & 4 x 400m relays ) , Danny Ikeh ( 200m, Shot Putt , 4 X 100m & 4 x 400m relays ) , Niall Counihan ( Triple Jump) , Eoin O Donoghue ( Javelin ) & Vereran Pat Murphy ( Hammer & Discus)  .

Our best results on the day were Niall 2nd. in Triple Jump  with 13.81m  ( he jumped very consisently throughout the day ) – only beaten on last jump and young Eoin in Javelin who achieved a PB with the heavier Javelin .

Great Credit is due to these Athletes who compted in numerous events  – some for the first time  – they fought bravely and never gave up .

On the Day we scored 89 points – overall we finished 14th. over the 2 rounds  .
